Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Wikipedia Image: Planes-Trains-and-AutomobilesIf you’re in the transportation industry and you’ve seen the movie Planes, Trains and Automobiles with Steve Martin and John Candy, you may find it more of a reality than fiction. The movie is based around Steve Martins character Neil Page, trying to get home to his family for Thanksgiving from New York to Chicago. On his journey home he struggles with getting a cab in downtown New York, flight delays, redirected flight to Saint Louis, weather cancellations, unpredictability of the rail, cars breaking down and finally the reliability of a trucker running on the holiday to make his delivery. John Candy’s character Del Griffeth has been trying Neil Page’s patience the entire journey as they travel the Midwest back to Chicago.

We’re Like Del Griffeth

We are like the effervescent Del Griffeth when it comes to transportation. We don’t just move truckload freight; we look at all services to get the product from origin to destination. To make things happen being the persistent Del Griffeth comes naturally to explore all modes and do whatever it takes to bring the freight home. Whether that is full truckload, LTL, intermodal or reefer, we look at your shipping needs and present a best fit transportation solution with cost savings and increased service.

Del Griffeth’s Transportation Issues Are Our Every Day Reality

Transportation is much the same as the movie in that as much as you plan every detail and coordinate every leg of the trip, some things are out of your control and you just have to hang on, hold tight and enjoy the ride! Mother Nature can have her own ideas for what will happen with snow storms, floods, and damaging winds that will cease transportation. Machines will break, traffic will come to a screeching halt and trains will get there when they get that caboose moving but you can always count on the people that make it all happen. For many of us transportation is not just a job but it is what makes us tick. The unexpected predicaments of delays, time crunches and Mother Nature add excitement and we thrive off excitement.

Transportation may not be for everyone, but it is for us. We enjoy the journey and look forward to being that company you count on to bring you home for the holidays.
