If you’re in the transportation industry and you’ve seen the movie Planes, Trains and Automobiles with Steve Martin and John Candy, you may find it more of a reality than fiction. The movie is based around Steve Martins character Neil Page, trying to get home to his family for Thanksgiving from New York to Chicago. On his journey home he struggles with getting a cab in downtown New York, flight delays, redirected flight to Saint Louis, weather cancellations, unpredictability of the rail, cars breaking down and finally the reliability of a trucker running on the holiday to make his delivery. John Candy’s character Del Griffeth has been trying Neil Page’s patience the entire journey as they travel the Midwest back to Chicago.
