When approached to help farmers in need, it was an easy decision for TransCorr’s CFO Steve Harris and CEO Greg Eddy. Texas was in a drought and the resources to feed livestock and horses had literally dried up. Being from the trucking side of the supply chain, the men understood very well how lack of food for the animals could severely affect the livelihood of the farmers and completely disrupt the entire supply chain, which would affect a lot of people.
On Wednesday, October 12, 2011 Baylor Trucking, Bestway Express, Grammer Industries, Prime, Inc., TransCorr, Venture Logistics and the American Trucking Associations’ Share the Road Program transported seven loads of donated hay. The collective effort took less than 24 hours, but the rewards were great. We’re proud of Team TransCorr members Steve Miller and Carroll Cornwell, who took part in this project.
The need for this commodity is so great; a line of people waiting for the delivery greeted the trucks. Although some people had to be turned away, the generosity of the farmers that donated the hay and the resourcefulness of the trucking companies delivered much needed assistance.
TransCorr believes in giving back and our “hay project” was one way that we in the trucking industry could do just that.
