From the people who ring the red bells for the Salvation Army to those who donate food items, assemble baskets, and deliver them to needy families, without helpers, Santa would need a bigger sleigh and a lot more time.
The employees of TransCorr National Logistics pride themselves on being Santa’s go-to guys and gals. For the past four years, the TNL team has shopped for, wrapped, and delivered gifts to needy children at area schools during their holiday parties. The unsuspecting children are visited by Santa, Buddy the Elf, and numerous helpers who, based on the kid’s handwritten letters, bring bags and boxes of Christmas cheer.
The process starts months ahead of time when area school administrative offices are asked what schools are most in need. Normally, three classes of first and second graders are chosen. The teachers have the children write a letter to Santa. The elves at TNL receive the letters and make the list of toys, organize groups, and set the dates that the groups will shop, wrap, and deliver.
The TNL sales reps make personal donations to the cause and then a donation request form is filled out at Meijer. Meijer has been extremely generous, not only with a gift card donation, but the Grandville, Michigan location has shut down lanes and supplied dedicated cashiers. Meijer does everything to make the experience seamless.
From beginning to end, the Christmas in the Schools program is one of the favorites amongst TNL employees because they get to see the happiness on the faces of students, parents, and teachers first hand.
